MX-5 Frame Requirements

26 Inch Wheel Diameter
19 Inch Frame or TALLER!

The three critical frame measurements required for mounting the MX-5 Superbike Engine are:

  1. 9 inches minimum when measuring between the end of the pedal crank arm (when pointing straight up at 12 o clock) and the bottom side of the top horizontal frame tube.

  2. The vertical frame tube (that runs from the seat to the pedals) should measure 1 1/8 inches diameter (it's width).  If measuring this tube's circumference (measuring around the tube), the correct measurement would be 3.53 inches (just barely
    over 3 1/2 inches).

  3. The space between the previously mentioned vertical frame tube and the rear tire tread surface (measured at the closest point that they come to each other) should be no closer than 2 inches, but not greater than 3 3/8 inches from each other.

Note: By changing the pedal crankset to a wider or shorter crankset, you can gain the required frame heigth (9 inches), if necessary. A shorter or wider crankset will also allow you to mount the engine lower.  The ability to mount lower will allow you to drive a tire spaced further away than 3 3/8 inches because the tire surface comes closer to the vertical frame tube as you move the engine mount down on the tube.

Well balanced and Easy
to Install

Motorcycle style speed control

Convenient engine stop switch

It is extremely fuel efficient with over 150 miles per gallon and will power a bicycle with speeds of up to 25 to 30 miles per hour.  Just release the lever mounted on the handle bars to lower the engine onto the rear tire while pedaling.  The motorcycle style twist-grip controls the speed.

With the Mx-5 Superbike engine you now have the option of power assisted cycling or normal pedaling, all with a simple flick of a lever.  The Mx-5 Superbike engine is a 33.6 cc., two-stroke, forced air-cooled engine with electronic ignition, which means very low maintenance.
